| Stainless steel orifice plate mounted in polypropylene
carrier for gas or liquid flows. Temperatures up to 90°C and
line pressures up to 10 bar. Carrier predrilled to customer-specified
flange table. |
Solid one piece stainless steel orifice plate
for high temperature - high pressure demanding applications. Mounted
within the bolt circle of the pipeline flanges. Stub pipes bring the
tapping points beyond the flange O/D. |
| Measurement of pressure drop across an
orifice plate is one of the most widely accepted methods of determining
flow. With no moving parts and a design based on fundamental physical
principles, high reliability is assured. The orifice size is computer
calculated for each specific application in accordance with BS EN
ISO 5167/1. |
| For best accuracy these standards recommend
installation with minimum 20 pipe diameters (D) upstream and 10 diameters
(D) downstream of smooth straight pipe. 12 D upstream and 6 D downstream
will give a typical accuracy of ±2%, while 6D and 3D will give
approximately 4%, depending on pipe layout. |
| System pressure loss will be typically
45 - 70% of the actual differential pressure across the plate depending
on the application. We can design to keep this to a minimum if required
or utilise the full scale range of the flow indicator being used. |
| Polypropylene and stainless steel carriers
are 25mm nominal thickness. Metering stations for pipe sizes up to
300mm dia. are part of our normal supply and units for larger pipe
diameters are possible depending on the application. |
| Manometers, dial gauges and electronic
flow indicators or transmitters may all be used with orifice metering
stations. Poddymeter will advise on a suitable gauge from within our
own range or from an outside source. |
| When ordering please state: type and
specific gravity of liquid or gas flowing, pipe I/D, normal maximum
flow, temperature and pressure, indicator required or D.P range. |
